In 2013, after the death of Peter, a young boy from the Northeastern Children’s Home (read the story), For One Life established the Peter Lalthasang Memorial Scholarship.
Peter was in Class IX at the Northeastern Children’s Academy when he passed away, and he was a good student, consistently at the top of his class. As a way of remembering Peter year after year, the scholarship in awarded to the Class IX student from the school who gets the best average scores on the quarterly tests throughout the year.
On February 7, 2014, the first ever Peter Lalthasang Memorial Scholarship was awarded. It was an exciting morning for the school students, teachers, and staff. For One Life’s Michael Esh had the honor of handing out the award to Vanlalrinnghetti, the 2014 recipient. In addition to all school fees being paid for her Class X year, she also received a new uniform, textbooks, notebooks, a new backpack, along with a cash prize.
