Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. In 2010, the country was devastated by a magnitude 7.0 earthquake that destroyed thousands of buildings and killed hundreds of thousands. Over one million people were left homeless.
For One Life is partnering with Jason and Amanda Stoltzfus, missionaries in Haiti, to reach out to the local young people. Jason and Amanda have been able to purchase some land and are planning to build a youth rec center as a way to minister to the young people in their area.
Plans include building a lighted basketball and street hockey court, and a building with racquetball and wally ball courts. Since there is limited electricity in this area of Haiti, a generator is needed for the lights, etc.
Jason and Amanda would also like to have a large garden on their property, and to do that they will need to install a cistern. Their property is right next to the ocean, so they would also like to purchase a boat and equipment for fishing.
